About
The Pride of Scotland School of Dance opened in 2016 under the direction of Kodi Page. Miss Kodi started by teaching lessons out of her home. In September 2017, Miss Kodi partnered with Darcy's School of Dance to be able to provide lessons in a more accessible location. The studio has continued to grow and the teaching staff expanded to include Allison Smith and Morgan McCarthy.
The name "Pride of Scotland" comes from the tartan Miss Kodi has worn as her kilt since she was little - the 'Dress Pride of Scotland'. It is a beautiful mix of predominately royal blue, purple and green which have been adapted as our studio colours.
Scottish Highland Dance started out as a display of Scottish pride and military capability. Now it is a demanding sport that combines the beauty of artistic interpretation and the agility and strength of its military roots.
Dancers have the opportunity to participate in both recreational and competitive programs. Each year we participate in a Christmas recital with Darcy's School of Dance and a separate year end recital in June. Dance exams through the Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance are offered every spring and allow dancers to receive feedback from some of the best examiners in the world. Dancers who wish to compete may do so but recreational dancers may choose to just partake in local community shows.
Scottish Highland Dance provides students with the opportunity to learn life skills, the importance of health and fitness, the celebration of culture as well as making life long friends in the process.
